Michael J. Shields
Michael Shields joined the firm in 2019, with experience concentrated in insurance defense litigation. His experience spans a broad spectrum of cases including products liability, premises liability, and workers’ compensation. His love language, however, is New York’s Labor Law.
Throughout his years of practice, has participated in mediations on high exposure cases. While in law school, Mr. Shields taught contracts and research to first year law students and participated in a legal externship program with a focus in environmental land use, and continues his affinity for instruction by supporting associates as they navigate New York practice at McCormick & Priore, P.C.
Mr. Shields’ interests are wide and varied, and include a healthy enthusiasm for cigars, Guinness, sunshine, and anywhere with a pool. He is unyielding regarding his core principles, which, according to Mr. Shields, include the best season being fall, the best pizza being found in Connecticut (Frank Pepe’s, not Sally’s), and the greatest classic Disney animation movie ever being “Beauty and The Beast.” His coffee order is simply, “black.” His secret talents include plant care and gift wrapping.
Mr. Shields’ downtime activities include reading World War II history, “literary RPGs” (“Dungeon Crawler Carl” and the like), and videogames. He is currently ranked Silver II in League of Legends, with aspirations towards Gold rank, and maintains he will “defeat all challengers in Mario Kart.”
Mr. Shields resides in Connecticut with his wife and dog, the most adorable animal on four legs, Sir Cooper Winston Shields-Camilo.
